We have learned to copy successful models because what works for others must work for us as well, right? However, this line of thinking keeps us in fear to try new things and igniting our imagination. Well, this is a new day and we’re slowly re-learning that creativity is key!
The collective is tired of the same old thing, same old ways of marketing, selling, doing business and even the way we relate to each other. Simply said, it’s high time to create, create, create! We are unique for a reason. We have encountered and overcome challenges for a reason!
If you’re called to create a nursery, why do it the same old way? It’s usually quite boring. What’s boring is usually not as useful as it could be. Do you recall the feeling you get when you are hit with a creative item or service? You can also be that person that gives your customers that feeling!
Let your creative juices flow, it’s okay! Let me guide you…
First thing first, remember that golden rule – provide a service or product that people need and are good for them. What people need or want may depend on the times. With that said, what ideas are coming to you? Make a list.
Keep in mind that whatever you choose must be easy to get or grow. A bonus is that it is multi-purpose.
Offer a comprehensive solution or experience. Don’t get caught up in greed by offering pieces to a solution. Your customers may feel cheated. Don’t you feel cheated when you create a website and you have to purchase parts from different people to make it functional?
CREATIVE NURSERY IDEAS
Themed Nursery
Consider creating a nursery with a specific theme or niche. Make sure that this choice calls out to you. The idea should feel exciting and mirror an aspect of your journey. Maybe you’ve had challenges and can relate. Brainstorm and jot down ideas that come to you.
To offer a comprehensive experience, include all items one would need to grow that particular plant or tree. That way, your customers aren’t forced to go elsewhere before they can start their gardening project.
Here are some examples below:
Apartment or Small Place Dwellers
How many nurseries do you know cater to people living in small spaces, like apartments? Sure, one could say that there are plants that they could buy. However, how cool would it be that the entire nursery contains greenery that work well in spaces that may not get much sun?
Most apartments have windows and some have balconies. How about you offering decorative and hanging planters? How about oxygen and money plants? Wind chimes and sun catchers would be well-received. So would a small moon garden and sunflowers for those with balconies.
The key to keep in mind is to offer items that bring nature indoors, like indoor plants that will survive newbie gardeners? What else comes to your mind? How about small, decorative waterfalls and bird baths?
Endangered Species Nursery
It goes without saying that parts of nature are rapidly disappearing and many have been declared extinct. Why not create a nursery that caters to the endangered? Awareness campaigns and events would help attract your new customer base.
Create a species list of endangered, threatened and vulnerable plants, shrubs and trees in your area. Keep in mind that what some say is extinct may not actually be so. Confirm by doing research and speaking with other farmers. Then, update your list.
Find your suppliers and get going! Your new customers have been waiting on you! Get them excited about discovering things they didn’t know.
Make your nursery an educational experience with pamphlets, flyers and small manuals on how to take care of them. Continually update your knowledge and share the news in a fun way.
Run your nursery in a new way. Make it fun and interactive! Offer educational and recreational workshops and events. That way, you’ll never get bored to serve your community.
Make sure to write about your journey and inspire the Soulistic Innovators tribe!
